This week on The Little Radio Show we talk about many different things.

Snapchat surpassed Twitter in active daily users. Yep, that means that Snapchat continues to become a major force for brands.

YouTube “celebrity” couple PrankvsPrank broke up, and they’re blaming vlogging for the breakup.

The Brock Turner rape case sentencing (and many would say “lack of sentencing”) sparked outrage. And a lot of it was due to his father’s now infamous letter.

This week on The Little Radio Show we talk about the semi-recent deaths of singers Emilio Navaira and Prince. Navaira was a pioneer and superstar of Tejano music. Prince was … well, Prince.

In TV news, we’ve gotten confirmation that Eva Longoria’s “Telenovela” has been cancelled so don’t expect a new season next year. The same sad news was given to fans of the new animated series “Bordertown.”

Have you noticed Instagram’s new logo. We share our feelings on the very different updated logo of this social media giant.

When can you (and can’t you) call yourself an immigrant? If you were born in a foreign country? If your parents come to the U.S. from another country? What about if your great-grandfather was the one who immigrated here? We tackle this question and give our (conflicting) opinions.

Did you hear the news about a weathergirl in California who was handed a sweater to put on over her dress (on live TV) because the station had gotten complaints about it over social media? Uh huh. We had a lot to say about that.

This week on The Little Radio Show we talk about a Harvard student who drove her undocumented mom from Texas to watch her graduate. Her mother is an undocumented immigrant from Mexico who works as a housekeeper. Norma Torres Mendoza received her Master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University with her mother watching on.

We have a great interview with Anna Garza and Muna Javaid of Girls Rock Camp Houston, an organization dedicated to “empowering girls and women of all backgrounds and abilities through musical education and creative expression.” The camp offers girls ages 8-18 years old to participate in a one-week program during the summer that will give them a chance to write their own songs and learn to perform. They were recently featured in the Houston Press. Their registration continues to June 30, 2016.

This week on The Little Radio Show we talk about the meaning of Memorial Day with a look at “Carry the Load,” a non-profit organization that “provides active ways to honor the military, law enforcement, firefighters and rescue personnel who dedicate their lives to keeping our country safe.”

We have a great conversation with Dr. Angelica Perez-Litwin, founder of Latinas Think Big, an online/offline community for professional Latinas that has created (among many other things) a Facebook group boasting more than 14,000 active members. On this latest episode of The Little Radio Show the focus of our conversation is all about U.S. Latinos. From how we are creating our own online and offline communities and sisterhoods, to the challenges of diversity inclusion in Hollywood still today. We also discuss the importance of giving back and adopting a philosophy of philanthropy.

Our guests include Ana Flores, founder of the annual We All Grow Summit and the digital influencer network Latina Bloggers Connect; Cyndy Garza Roberts, Public Affairs Director for Texas-based grocer H-E-B and President of the Latin Women’s initiative; and Mexican actor Alex Ruiz who stars both in Hollywood productions and on Spanish-language telenovelas.

In our “In Case You Missed It” segment we take on Beyonce’s Lemonade and Gen Z.

Tune in now and leave us a comment with your thoughts on U.S. Latinos.

This week on The Little Radio Show we talk about the new USA network’s show “Queen of the South.” It’s an American adaptation of the internationally-renowned Spanish-language telenovela “La Reina del Sur,” which was produced by Telemundo and starred Kate del Castillo. It’s also based on the book that started it all, authored by Arturo Pérez-Reverte.

The USA version will star Alice Braga as Teresa Mendoza. Supporting cast includes Justina Machado, Peter Gadiot, Hemky Madera, and Gerardo Taracena. Here’s a trailer for your enjoyment.

Of course, it wouldn’t be “The Little Radio Show” if we didn’t veer off topic a little. This week we discuss the status of Latinos in entertainment and why we don’t see enough roles for and by Latinos on TV and Film.

Just in time for Mother’s Day, this week we’re dedicating our entire show to the wonderful women in our lives who also happen to be mothers. Whether it’s our own mom, ourselves, a sister, a niece, or someone we don’t yet know, every person dedicating their time and energy to raising a family deserves a little recognition.

This Mother’s Day we spent a little time with style and parenting influencer New Mom in a New Era who shared a little about her journey as a young mother. We also reminisced about some of our most memorable moments with our own moms.

Tune in and share some memories of your own about what makes Mother’s Day so special.

From celebrities, musicians, actors, and influencers who are pretty well known themselves, Hispanicize 2016 was the gathering place for Latinos in the U.S. earlier this month. They were there to connect and network with one another, as well as what founder Manny Ruiz might argue was the primary reason for #Hispz16, to make an impact.

We were in Miami for the full week of both the first inaugural DiMe Summit, which took place one day prior to Hispanicize, and for the seventh annual Hispanicize 2016 event. The week was definitely action-packed and thought provoking.

So much so, that we are dedicating an entire episode to all things Hispanicize. Tune in to hear directly from founder Manny Ruiz about the importance of Latinos uniting as one community; a very inspirational keynote speech by Texas’s own Lizzie Velasquez, and her parents; as well as a brief excerpt from Vine superstar, Lele Pons on what it means to be a part of a global social community. And we’ll even reveal the official dates for Hispanicize 2017!

Want more about Hispanicize? Read the following links from Juan of Words and SandraSays.

This week on The Little Radio Show we talk with Blanca Quezada from the Houston Public Library. Blanca tells us about some things they have going on in the Library, including the "Designing America: Spain’s Imprint in the U.S." and "AstroWorld Memories" exhibits.

Then we have a conversation about a (growing?) trend we’re seeing with people selling off their belongings and going on world tours. Interesting, and just a bit scary. Would you do it?
