This week on The Little Radio Show we talk about Juan’s first Uber ride and Sandra’s excitement over the return of “The X-Files” on television. We have an interview with Jamila Velazquez, Yani Marin, and Raquel Castro of the television show “Empire.” And we give thanks for the good things in our lives this Thanksgiving.

Uber has disrupted the taxicab industry and regularly makes the news either with compliments on the service or concerns. Juan recently tried Uber for the first time and we discuss his impressions of the service.

Before the SyFy channel, before the recent shift that has made science fiction trendy and cool, there was “The X-Files.” It started out as a low-budget show that became a worldwide phenomena, with everything from aliens and government conspiracies to Big Foot and ghosts. And then there was Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson; they were the so-good-looking and incredibly intelligent federal agents who investigated the cases. The show has been off the air for more than 20 years and is being brought back for a limited six-episode run in 2016. Sandra talks about her excitement over the return of the show.

In its second season, the runaway hit television show “Empire” has added several new characters to the show. The show’s inclusion of Latino characters and guest stars is helping draw Latino audiences. TLRS has a great conversation with Jamila Velazquez, Yani Marin, and Raquel Castro who play the Mirage a Trois girl group on the show. We learn about how they got started, what’s it like to work with the award-winning cast, and what we can expect in the upcoming episodes of the show.

What are your Thanksgiving traditions? We talk about what we’re doing today with our families and friends, how we’re celebrating. And we discuss what we’re thankful for this year. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?

This week on The Little Radio Show we talk about Ancestry.com’s new Ancestry Mexico, about the actors and actresses we love, and a spotlight on adoption in the US as part of a look at National Adoption Awareness Month.

Ancestry.com recently added 220 million searchable historical records from Mexico, including birth, marriage and death records. These records date back to the 1500s. In addition, they launched Ancestry Mexico, a Spanish-language interface for those who want to use their tools to search their family histories.

We are joined by our friend Leticia Manzano for an entertaining conversation about the actors and actresses we love, both for the “babe factor” and their acting. Among those we discuss are Denzel Washington, Matthew McConaughey, Shamar Moore, Jennifer Lopez, Merryl Streep, and Julia Roberts.

According to ChildWelfare.gov, there are more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting for permanent families. November is National Adoption Awareness Month, when social service agencies throughout the country work to educate the public about adoption. We talk with Leah Adams-Sutherland about her journey to becoming an adoptive parent, some of the things prospective adoptive parents should know, and shares some resources:

In the In Case You Missed it Segment (ICYMI) we talk about changes in LinkedIn, with LinkedIn Groups becoming private. And … did you hear the story about the drunk driver who was Periscoping herself and gots arrested? Her viewers called the police on her. You can find the complete story on CNN, after you listen to the show.

On this episode of The Little Radio Show we talk to a representative of Houston’s premier Latino arts community center, Talento Bilingue de Houston (TBH). Anjelica and Sandra share the must have items they can’t leave the house without having in their purses. While Juan tries to comprehend why women like switching out purses so often, when he can keep a wallet for years on end. Links from this episode:

In today’s episode we sit down and talk with Frida Villalobos, spokesperson for Neighborhood Centers, and take a look at Periscope, the latest “hot” tool in social media.

Neighborhood Centers is the largest non-profit in the Houston area. They recently were featured in the New York Times, in an article entitled “What Do the Poor Need? Try Asking Them.” The article takes a look at their methodology, “appreciative inquiry,” and how the approach has impacted how they work with communities in and around Houston.

Periscope is one of the live streaming apps that launched earlier this year. Owned by Twitter, it’s the preferred live streaming option for show host Anjelica. In this segment we find out why. Show links:
